The world is a whirlpool
Of thoughts and acts — -
Yet softness does rule
The harsh, cold facts.
My scope of perception
Has limits, yet free
Of self-blinded deception
Has granted a key:
Each mind is a world apart,
Shared, yet alone,
And the workings of each man’s heart
Makes his mind known.
All worlds I cannot know now,
And must learn yet to share:
To these I endow
My faith, and my care.
