Gone are the days

Of ragged discontent

In which my battered

Wings would fight,

And heal, to fight again.

The bars of my cage,

Though once so cold and blind,

Have come to life

With sight beyond

Their lonely purpose.

For concrete world

Can never hope to stand

Against the gift of life

Bestowed by Essence.
