The Light of Life Wanes
That men can see, and yet ignore;
That men can cry, yet shed no tears;
Can witness plagues that struck before,
And close their eyes on darkened years:
Those times were marred by men like these -
Too young to know, too old to care.
Or maybe men who lost the keys
To that which offers life so rare.
Thus, charred remains must Man employ
To build for present human needs.
Unless Man change, he will destroy
The very life on which he feeds.
